NOVEMBER 2023 QUESTIONS FROM COLOR FAIRPORT GREEN TO POLITICAL CANDIDATES

Color Fairport Green is a non-partisan community volunteer group invested in making sure that Fairport, Perinton, and our neighbors stay committed to sustainability and preserving our environment. Our community is informed, engaged, and takes action. This is your chance to spell out your environmental agenda, and we welcome you to answer these two questions. Your responses will be shared with our community and discussed at our next meeting.

Candidates were told to submit their survey responses by Wednesday, October 18th at midnight.

Color Fairport Green advocates for a number of climate and sustainability issues:

  • Food and waste reduction (composting, recycling)

  • Sensible lawn practices (No Mow May, avoiding risky chemicals)

  • Lawn right-sizing (replacing with native pollinator-friendly plants)

  • Managing invasive species

  • Alternative transportation (public transportation, walking, biking)

  • Sustainable development

  • Municipal responsibility (boards and action plans)

  • Adaptation to a changing climate

  1. Of these issues, please choose two that you feel should have the highest priority for our community and explain why you chose them.

  2. For each of the two you chose, give an example of a concrete action (or several) you would support in addressing that issue.

Alternatively, you could share a narrative of your position on environmental issues for our county/town/village - and please discuss climate change specifically.
